This project was for science fair and it was made to combat the current threat to the ocean. Ocean acidification is a process in which carbon dioxide from fossil plants gets absorbed by the ocean and initiates a chemical reaction whereby the ocean becomes more acidic. This acidity negativily affects the ecosytem of the ocean and affects marine life like that of coral reefs and shell organisms. The project was to find a solution to capture the carbon dioxide before it enters the ocean and initiates the process of ocean acidification. A simulated ocean environment was built to show the effects of the carbon dioxide on marine life like oysters. A second environment was built to show the ability of the moss to absorb the carbon dioxide before it enters the ocean. The moss will be placed vertically on the ocean to allow for moss to be placed on the ocean and also allow for sunlight to penetrate the ocean which most marine life partly depend on.
