Dr. Asera currently teaches in the UNLV Mathematics Learning Center and has been teaching at UNLV in the Department of Mathematical Sciences since 2005 and previously 14 years at UNR. Last year he was selected a UNLV Faculty Fellow by Housing & Residential Life and was honored by textbook publishers as a Cengage Faculty Partner and ICTCM Pearson Fellow. For several years he has been the Faculty Senate representative to the UNLV Dining Advisory Board and the UNLV Parking Advisory Committee. On campus he is a former Faculty Adviser of the Rebel Ice Hockey team and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Off campus he is president of the U.C. Berkeley Alumni Chapter of Las Vegas and the Vegas Ivy Plus organization of Ivy League schools. Since 2008 he has been a Clark County Hearing Officer for real property tax appeals. Dr. Asera is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley where he earned a B.S. in Accounting and Ph.D. in Finance.

Dr. Asera has a long-standing interest in Asian cultural affairs and is a Faculty Affiliate of Asian American Studies at UNLV and has served as Faculty Adviser to the UNLV Filipino American Student Association.
